Solstice Sun

“In stillness the world is restored.”

Buddhist Proverb

This is the day of the winter solstice, the shortest day and longest night of the year in the northern hemisphere. The word solstice, literally sol (sun)- stice (stasis) means the sun appears to stand still in its heavenly march.

Culturally this day has been celebrated since time immemorial for nature is renewed with the lengthening days of sunlight.

I designed this stained glass work in honor of this day. My sister, Donna, expertly crafted it for me. Many thanks to her for sharing in the creation of  my idea.
