October
O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
Tomorrow’s wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all…
Robert Frost
This image is a detail of a work in progress, still wet on the easel. I painted this en plein air last week with fury at the inadequacy of the palette in my hands. It is an experiment in flinging pure color at the canvas and mixing it on the surface.
You must view it for at least 2 minutes before the color, values and composition pull themselves together. Otherwise your brain can’t take in the storm and fury. Now imagine it at 4 times the size of your monitor.
