The Trust is once again planning an art and artisan fundraising event for Saturday July 14, 2012 at the Town Hall in Acworth, New Hampshire. This is an invitational show of regional artists held in an historic building in a beautiful location. I will be showing 5 paintings at this event including the above work. The hours for the exhibition are 10am to 4pm.
If you are in or passing by southern New Hampshire this weekend come and check it out! I hope to see you there.
How exciting! I always enjoy seeing your art exhibited and this sounds like a wonderful event and location. I hope to be reading a post event update for those of us at the other end of the country.
Thank you.
This painting is one of a continuing series of studies of these ancient walls in deep woods. The juxtaposition of the “wildness” with the handwrought aspect of the walls (these were built 200 years ago using oxen and “stoneboats” I find moving. You may wonder why someone would build a wall in the woods? For what purpose? Where did the stone come from?
For some of my inspiration check out this poem by Frost, “A star in a stoneboat” : http://www.americanpoems.com/poets/robertfrost/752
Also I want to refer you back to my post about my stone wall project for further background: https://thisspeaksmymind.wordpress.com/2012/05/18/stone-wall-project/
