The Nature of Created Things

Leaving Townshend, oil painting by Roger Vincent Jasaitis, copyright 2014, RVJart.com
Leaving Townshend

A philosopher asked Saint Anthony: ” Father , how can you be enthusiastic when the comfort of books has been taken away from you?” And Anthony replied: ” My book, O philosopher , is the nature of created things, and whenever I want to read the word of God, it is right in front of me.”

To me God is in the nature of created things and in painting nature I am trying to capture a glimpse of the Spirit.

This painting, Leaving Townshend, is a morning view of the West River valley in Townshend, Vermont.

Beautifully done, Roger. It’s a comforting thought that we don’t have to look high and low, exhausting ourselves in a quest for things that are right in front of us in nature if we only allow them in.

Thanks for sharing, Roger. we have to always remind ourselves that everything we need is right in front of us, all the time. you just have to pause to notice.
