Saying goodbye to an old friend…

Thank you, photo of Panasonic DMZ-FZ20 camera, Roger Vincent Jasaitis, RVJart.com

I have dragged this Panasonic Lumix camera (the one on the right) through hundreds of miles of forest, mountains and beach over a period of ten or more years.  From Quebec, Canada to the Florida Keys, from down east Maine  to the redwoods of California, from Spain to Ireland it has been a trusted companion. It has captured tens of thousands of images, but now, the camera logic has given up the ghost. I posted about this workhorse in Ode to a Camera awhile back. It will now join it’s predecessor (on the left) as a museum piece.

Although state of the art at the time, most phones have more megapixels than this camera now. Time to upgrade. The photos that you will see in the future are taken with a Nikon D3200.

Here is a retrospective of some of the images that the Panasonic captured…

What a lovely trip around the world you must have had. I very much enjoyed seeing your showing of your favorite photos. The wildlife and the birds were so sharp, and the trees and flowers are with lovely lighting to show them off too. It was nice to see your previous homes as well. Such fond memories of being with you, Nancy and Tinker. Was that black and white cat yours? I had a tuxedo cat a few years back, Max. Love, Tina

Your Panasonic captured some such vivid and wonderful images with your eye as its guide. I love seeing them all. Thanks, Roger, and I’m sure you will enjoy your new camera and all its advantages. Love, Ginger

What a wonderful homage to your dear friend. I always felt like my camera is an extension of myself , having had close to a dozen of them including the Giant Polaroid I got for Christmas from Gram and Grandy and my very first Kodak Instamatic from my mom at the age of 11, I have loved them all. I couldn’t wait to get my film developed. Thanks for the beautiful slide show. Your new camera has alot to look forward to with you behind the lens. The Nikon series is great. I have the D60.

Great to see Miami, Ireland and if I am not mistaken NC represented. Thanks for the tour and sharing these beautiful images with us all.

You are correct Ernest, NC is represented. And you were present on many of these jaunts so I’m sure they look familiar to you 🙂
