The first day of spring in the Green Mountains of Vermont. The roads are thawing and the brooks are running. Here the sun is cutting through the early morning mist picking up the warm tones of the trees. In Vermont we call this mud season and by the look of the road you can tell why. I painted this on a blue toned canvas and left the ground show through where ever I could. You can see it in the puddles, in the rising mist and in the sky.
I call these paintings psalms in praise for the spirit that I sense in the landscape.
