In the northern woodlands when spring comes the snow melt creates shallow pools of water in the forests. These serve as habitats for the amphibians and insects to breed. After a month or so they dry up leaving no trace of ever having been a part of the landscape. This intimate painting captures the fleeting transition from winter to spring in the Vermont forest.
